Integrated
Steel Plant

Steel Exchange India Limited's Integrated Steel Plant (ISP) is located at Sreerampuram Village in Vizianagaram District of Andhra Pradesh. The ISP has a production capacity of 0.22 MTPA Sponge Iron, 0.25 MTPA Billets, 0.225 MTPA Rebars and 60 MW Power. The ISP has the potential to become a 1 MTPA facility given the availability of land (around 240 acres) and infrastructure to support the expansion.

The strategic location of the plant coupled with multimodal connectivity makes for easy transportation of raw materials and finished products. The Visakhapatnam & Gangavaram Ports and their allied logistics & container facilities are about 40 kms from the plant. State & National Highways directly connect to Vijayawada, Hyderabad, Tirupati, Bhubaneshwar, Chennai, Raipur & Kolkata. The ISP's Railway Siding is situated on the Bailadila–Kirandul Line. The Visakhapatnam International Airport is 35 kms from the plant.

Coal Power Plant (CPP)

The CPP was commissioned to meet the existing as well as the future electricity requirement of the ISP production units. The CPP has two 30 MW steam turbo generators, air cooled condensers, 210 T/hr Circulating Fluidized Bed Combustion (CFBC) boiler and two 36 T/hr Waste Heat Recovery Boilers (WHRB) in a flue gas circuit of DRI Kilns. Auxiliaries include coal and char handling system, ash/fly ash handling system, water treatment plant, water cooling system, service & instrument air compressors, power distribution system, automation with distributed control system (DCS) and a 132/11 KV substation.

DRI Sponge Iron Kilns

SEIL's two 350 TPD CODIR Process DRI Sponge Iron Kilns were setup in a technical collaboration with the erstwhile Mannesmann Demag Corporation of Germany (currently Primetals Technologies, a Mitsubishi Heavy Industries group company). The company is able to manufacture 0.225 MTPA of Sponge Iron per annum. Each Rotary Kiln is 70 meters long, 4.4 meters wide and inclined at 2.5%. The kilns each have a thick 250mm refractory lining inside, 3 support rollers and a dual drive with two 155 kW DC Motors. Each Kiln also has seven shell air fans and air tubes for air supply inside the kiln.

Steel Melt Shop (SMS)

SEIL's Steel Melt Shop has 4 Induction Furnaces each having a liquid steel production capacity of 25 tons, one 30 ton Ladle Refining Furnace and a three Stand, 4/7 Continuous Caster producing 100x100 and 110x110 MS Billets.

Rolling Mill

SEIL's state of the art fully automated Continuous Rolling Mill has a capacity of manufacturing 0.25 Million TPA of 'SIMHADRI TMT' branded rebars. The Rolling Mill produces TMT (Thermo Mechanically Treated) rebars based on the Tempcore Process, a quench and self-tempering process invented and developed by the CRM Group (Cente de Recherches Métallurgiques) of Belgium. The same quenching process is also used by Tata Steel & Visakhapatnam Steel Plant in India and by companies like Arcelor Mittal and Gerdau abroad.

Railway Siding

SEIL's ISP has its own Electrified Private Railway Siding with 3 lines (2+escape) i.e. two rakes can be unloaded simultaneously. The railway siding is on the Kirandul dedicated iron ore railway line and also connected to the Kothavalsa Junction on the main line. The ISP is located just 40 Km away from major Visakhapatnam ports (Vizag Port and Gangavaram Port) allowing for ease and commercial viability for imports of raw material and exports of finished goods.
